Notes withdrawn
The following (incomplete) table shows the value of notes withdrawn. In early years of issue there were few and these were generally pieces that were damaged or were defective as a result of the printing or cutting process. In later years large quantities were withdrawn and burned because they were badly worn.

In a report to Congress on 1 September 1917 Carranza said that in accordance with the reglamento of 8 March 1916 $369,085 in notes of the Banco de Aguascalientes had been incineratedEl Pueblo, 4 September 1917; Periódico Oficial, Tamaulipas, Tomo XLII, Núm. 75, 19 September 1917.
In July 1922 the Interventor, from Mexico City, recommended that the bank listed the notes in its possession so that they could be incinerated within two monthsAGN, SC224 Antiguos Bancos de Emisión, caja 102, libro 283 minutes of Consejo de Administración, Guadalajara, 1 August 1922.
In December 1922, the board in Agusacalientes decided, because the uncertain security situation meant that the notes that it held could be taken at any moment, to incinerate them immediately in the presence of board members, the comisario and some official from the Administración del Timbre.
