Cartones
On 10 April 1914 the Ayuntamiento of Monterrey, in view of the lack of small change, agreed to make a new (sic) issue of 1c and 5c cartones, up to a total of $50,000. The proposal was accepted by the Cámara de Comercio and the governmentEl País, Año X, Núm. 4586, 14 April 1914; The Mexican Herald, 14 April 1914. the latter said that the issue was to be of 1c, 2c and 5c vales. The actual minute book is confusing. It records that at a session on 13 April, the Alcalde 1o. Ramón C. Treviño reported that they were printing $10.00 (sic) in 1c, 2c and 5c vales in the government print workshop (Colección Actas de Cabildo, volumen 100, exp. 1914/022). On 29 April in a further meeting the Ayuntamiento, after consulting the Cámara, agreed that the latter should make an issue of $10,000 in notes of 1c, 2c and 5c. The Presidente Municipal said that the notes were already being printed by the imprenta del Gobierno and would be in circulation within a couple of daysEl País, Año X, Núm. 4602, 30 April 1914.

Withdrawal
On 13 June 1916 the governor of Nuevo León, Pablo de la Garza, ordered their withdrawal, with holders exchanging them in the Tesorería General.
