These cartones were issued during the Presidencia Municipal of Augusto Pérez Darget, who served from [ ] to [ ]. There were several different series, though their sequence (if there was one) has yet to be determined.

Augusto Pérez Darget came from a family of local land-owners. Darget’s business went into liquidation in October 1903Periódico Oficial, Tomo LXXIII, Núm. 36, 3 November 1903. Daugaud y Compañía, Compañía Cigarrera Mexicana, La Tabacelara Mexicana, Basagioti, Zaldo y Compañía, Compañía Cevercera Toluca y México, Comerciantes de la Capital de la República, Rivas y Meyeun Sucesores, M. Perraux y M. Dúring y Compañía Sucesores, Comerciantes de Veracruz, Manuel Fernández y Compañía de Jerez de la Frontera, España, and Alberto Pérez Darget (Periódico Oficial, Tomo LXXVI, Núm. 8, 27 January 1905) shows that he had credit with many of the major businesses in the area. |

This issue seem to have all been Series A, with a square border and black numbering. Some are dated 5 June 1915. Can anything be read from the fact that these, though only valid in the district, refer to the REPUBLICA MEXICANA on the reverse?

A similiar set, all printed on green card, also has a 'bamboo' border, and red numbering but the denomination in lighter type. The name of the Presidente Municipal is misspelt as Darguet which suggests that these might be counterfeit.
