The Carrancistas in Oaxaca
On 7 April 1916 Coronel Luis T. Mireles, the comandante militar in Oaxaca, issued a disposition[text needed] on Davila’s currency. Businesses, following a strict interpretation of the text, refused to accept the “cobijas” (blankets) of five, ten and twenty pesos, and only accepted, in sales of basic necessities, the “cobijitas” (little blankets) of 5c, 10c and one pesoEl Constitucional, Puebla, Tomo I, Núm. 170, 29 April 1916.
This report might have been mangled in transmission as it is likely that the cobijas were the credit bonds ($1 to $50) and the cobijas were the Cámara de Comercio issues (5c, 10c and 50c).
