An incineration took place on 23 JuneEl Tiempo, 28 June 1884. By 30 June the amount still in issue was $1,016, 779 and the bank began to incinerate the $3,311,181 retired. They had burnt $2,660,900 in notes of $1,000, $500 and $100La Libertad, Año VII, Núm. 162, 20 July 1884.
