Hacienda de Santa Lucia
This Hacienda de Santa Lucia is situated in Zapopan, on the north west edge of Guadalajara. It was one of the biggest haciendas in Jalisco with an extension of 24,000 hectares and produced corn, wheat, barley, and maguey, with a mezcal factory “La Taberna”. It also had mines for opal, iron and coal.
We know of an issue of four values (½ real brown, 1 real green, 2 reales orange and 4 reales yellow) dated May 1888 and redeemable in goods from the company store (EN EFECTOS DE LA TIENDA DE ESTA HCDA).
However, there was another hacienda in Canatlán, Durango, which might be a more likely source for these notes.
