$50 dos caritas

All the fifty pesos notes are Series F and were hand signed by Treasurer Vargas and Interventor Muñoz. The sequence was as follows:

These were Series F, numbered 1 to 15000, and were stamped with a black circular Tesorería seal, red scalloped Ejército Constitucionalista seal and Type 1 vertical control letters on back. The only control letters used were XIV-A F-XIV^{Though perhaps the future sequence was intended to be:

It is easy to see how B-XXCVIII could be an error for B-XXCIII but harder to explain the two ‘D’s. There is a known error: F-MXX for F-XXX.

Third Norris Peters printing

90,000 notes printed by Norris Peters under the 16 November contract and dispatched on 1 December 1914^{LG papers, 6-C-28, letter Navarro, Washington to Luis Gaxiola, El Paso. 9 December 1914}. These were Series F, numbered 75001 to 165000 and were stamped with a scalloped Tesorería seal and san-serif control letters on the back. The seal and letters were sometimes printed in red ink, sometimes purple: and occasionally vertically:

On 11 December 1914 at Torreon de la Garza conferred with the Tesorero de Chihuahua, who had ten million pesos, of which $4,500,000 were in $50 which had to be signed by hand^{LG papers, 1-F-142}. This must refer to this third printing.

The February 1916 report to the Carrancista government, which only listed the Maverick-Clarke issues, states that the Villistas began to overstamp the $50 notes on 9 June 1914 and finished on 17 February 1915^{AGN, Fondo Gobernación Periodo Revolucionario, caja 61, exp 24}.
