Padilla Ramírez was presidente municipal of the town in 1920, and diputado suplente for La Piedad to the XXXI national congress in 1925.

Jesús E. Villaseñor was treasurer of the Centro Partido Católico Nacional in Sahuayo in April 1913.

Chavéz Cisneros records that in 1917 (the Year of Famine) there was also a shortage of small change, that was supplemented by fichas issued by businesses in the larger towns of Sahuayo, Jiquilpan and Cotija and the smaller town of San José de GracíaEsteban Chavéz Cisneros, Quitupán, Ensayo histórico y estadístico, Morelia, 1954, p. 152.

Ignacio A, Gudiño was Prefecto del Districto for Jiquilpan in 1912. The newspaper El País complained that previously he had conspired with Diego Moreno, owner of the hacienda La Guaracha, to drive the indigenous people off their land. Now the government had changed the Indians were reasserting their rights and Gudiño’s lackeys were responsible for at least two assassinationsEl País, 10 March 1912. However, El Diario replied that these were lies (fake news), that Gudiño’s actions were supported within the region, the district was completely calm and that the neighbourhood enjoyed peace and guarantees for its futureEl Diario, 24 March 1912.
