The D. W. Distillery was established in 1927 by Waterfill and Frazier Distillery. The original Waterfill and Frazier Distillery was founded in the early 1800s. In the early 1900s it was owned by Kentucky businesswoman Mary Dowling. When prohibition was introduced in the United States, she relocated the distillery to Ciudad Juárez. It was brought back to the U.S. when prohibition ended, but production of whiskey at the Mexico distillery continued throughout the 1900s.
