At least some of the 'Núm.' notes with handwritten signatures had an error: 'Diciemhre' for 'Diciembre', thus:

sabanas 50 A 476

sabanas 50 A 18588

Series

A IMP. DEL GOBIERNO, CHIH. No. No. large, large black

Both 'Núm.' and 'No. No.' are known with and without a dot after ‘GOBIERNO’ in the printer’s imprint.

With the 'No. No.' notes, there are two major varieties, the one with the final 'h' in 'Chihuahua' different from the first two

and the other with the three 'h's the same.

sab50h2

In the former the phrase 'General Francisco Villa' is 71mm in width, whilst in the latter it is 67mm.

A notice from Hermosillo might suggest that the latter indicated a counterfeit, but it is more probable that the counterfeit note (Type 3) had this (and other) legitimate distinctions but also a missing full stop from Chao's Signature.

We can also distinguish three different varieties in the arrangement of the middle of the last line of the green underprint, namely PESOS. 50. CINCUENTA

sab50pesos1

PESOS 50. CINCUENTA

sab50pesos2

and PESOS .50. CINCUENTA

sab50pesos3

which may be related to the position on the printed page or counterfeiting (see Counterfeit $50 sábanas).
